- Makiko Yamamoto Exhibition View at Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito, 2012
*Admission is included in the admission to the special exhibition.
Makiko Yamamoto works mainly with long-term projects. In these projects, she orchestrates encounters and communication between people, employing various media and social systems. The whole process is usually documented, and illuminates automatic behaviour, blindly-acted habit, common sense, and the way we relate to others and to the world. She humorously reveals potential and possibility in everyday life from folklore, cultural and social aspects. Her work turns everyday occurrences into something more distinctive.
MENDING Mito is a project to repair damages caused by the effetcs of time or the earthquake at various locations in the city in dialog with local residents. The items from London were used as materials for the repairs to complete a jigsaw puzzle on a global scale. Find out more at the exhibition site.
