Session! - Gallery Tour with the visually impaired

November 29 (Tue.), 2014, to November 29 (Sat.), 2014

This tour, which is guided by Mr. Kenji Shiratori, who is blind, has been taking place since 2010. Together with blind and partially sighted individuals and people of normal vision, the works of art are made accessible by sharing thoughts about shape and impression with each other. Visitors with normal vision will also make a new experience by seeing art works in a way they never did before. This tour will help to dissolve the sensitive borders between the visually impaired and normally sighted visitors.

Teachers Week: Admission–free week for teachers

November 12 (Tue.), 2014, to November 23 (Sun.), 2014

A free invitation period is provided for teachers and other staff of elementary schools, Junior high schools, high schools and schools for disabled children. During the period, lectures by curators or educational program coordinator, and art appreciation tours with group discussion are organized.

Let’s experience art in summer!

“kodomo korabo rabo 2014”

August 9 (Tue.), 2014, to August 10 (Sun.), 2014

A two-day project will be conducted for elementary and junior high school students on summer vacation and their families to enjoy both art and Art Tower Mito, following the success of the event last year. Workshops, viewing tours and children internship programs are prepared centering around three sections of art, theater drama and music. Participants can participate in any combination of programs as they like.

High School Students Weeks 2013

Our annual free admission month to high scholers and others in the same age group. During the month, the café opens in the gallery. Visitors are welcome to use the café and lounge run mostly by high school and college students. A variety of different lecturers will hold workshops related to the ongoing exhibition.
