A seminar aimed at local aficionados of choral music. The one scheduled for February 2015 welcomes Ko Matsushita, a choral conductor who is widely popular among younger people. He will spend half a day rehearsing selected pieces with the participants. This will be his third time to lead the Choral Seminar, following his appearances more than a decade ago in 2003 and 2004.

Several notable Japanese musicians will join forces with outstanding performers who have some connection with Ibaraki Prefecture in a performance of Christmas-related songs that are sure to lift the spirits of everyone in the audience. The concert will be planned and emceed by one of Japan's major composers, Shin'ichiro Ikebe, who also serves as a planning and management adviser to Art Tower Mito's Music and Theater Divisions.

Beethoven's Symphony No.9 sung by 300 Musicians, 2014

Now a fixture of the year-end festivities in Mito City, the performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony(4th movement) by 300 musicians will take place again in December 2014. The giant chorus of more than 300 persons, drawn together through public subscription and other means, will start rehearsing in September, working toward their performance under the watchful eye of Mito's and ATM's symbolic tower, their voices resounding throughout the streets of Mito. The event was first put on in 1999, with this year's performance marking the 14th time.
